Match rig weight to depth and current — lighter for estuaries, heavier for surf or offshore. Present bait naturally near structure or bait trails.
4/0–8/0 for snapper and dhufish; 2/0–4/0 for inshore targets.
High oil content — handle with gloves. Butterfly larger fish to maximise scent; change bait when stripped by pickers.
